Hedgerow Health-check and Survey Training – Tuesday 24th January 2023

£0.00

Description

From nesting birds to hibernating hedgehogs, well-managed hedges can provide abundant resources for much of our wildlife. They form a key component of our natural heritage and provide many key ecosystem services and functions. Yet, to maintain a healthy hedgerow network into the future, we need to manage hedgerows according to their natural lifecycle. A baseline assessment of hedgerow condition through surveying, can also help us to tailor management that is optimal for wildlife and maintaining hedgerow health. This training will delve deeper into the amazing world of hedgerows, their management and hedgerow surveying.

We will cover:

  • The importance of hedgerows to wildlife and humans
  • The key features of a healthy hedge
  • Hedgerow origins and threats (past and present)
  • The natural hedgerow lifecycle and healthy hedgerow management
  • An introduction to People’s Trust for Endangered Species hedgerow surveys.

Date: Tuesday 24th January 2023
